In the upper right pane of the render editor, there is a lights hierarchy. Expand it fully. There is an ambient light and a directional light. Lower the values in the ambient and/or directional RGB to darken the light. You can also change the color of the light by making either the R, G, or B more or less. (Red, Green, and Blue)
The textures work a bit differently in the 3d editor and on the final image (sorry for that, but it is a bit difficult to fix). You may want to set the material to gray (0.5) in the 3D editor even if it loos too dark there.
ok...thanks. but the RGB is already set to 1,1,1. can I set it to zero?
Oooohh...i got the bright light to go away, but the colors are still kind of dull. But they are much better now.
try decimal numbers. Example: .5, .5, .5

nice eggs, would like to see more with patterns/textures and some vibrant colors, you should play around a bit with it (Easter is coming!) think you could expand the set...
