What kind of animations? The only things I can think of that would really make sense would be to have Aperture spin and Help blink or look around.

The portal looks kind of like a bug, doesn't it?
Could just be my eyes.. I don't play the game..

On animations: you could have the cubes blink in the center heart or the outer squares. In link you could have the center color flash.
